As a public service, in case you were watching the game or drinking lollipop vodkas, here is an excerpt from Slim's reading from Hemingway's Farewell To Arms. In it the hero, Tenente Frederic, has just gotten a car stuck. He orders two sergeants to help him cut branches for traction. They decide to split.
"I order you to halt," I called. They went a little faster. I opened my holster, took the pistol, aimed at the one who had talked the most, and fired. I missed and they both started to run. I shot three times and dropped one.
Slim's point being all war is ultimately a crime. By the way, they never got the car out.
