In Lanes 1, 2 and 3...flips, beehives, and bouffants

Watching reruns of American Gladiator in the back bar last week everyone got a kick out of the seriously outdated hair styles of the Gladiators, both men (mullets) and women(teased), but underneath all the hype (and gel) we realize this was after all show business, not really athletics.
That said, check out the Sports Illustrated cover shot of the University of Texas women's track team from 1964, not very aerodynamic to say the least, more like crash helmets.
